When Stephen Miller and JD Vance say ICE has full federal immunity, what they are actually saying is ICE is immune from federal obligation to protect the rights of US citizens. It’s not, but their intentions are clear.
States are equally bound by the obligation to protect the rights of citizens. It will be interesting to see the pathways that must be taken by the Minnesota AG to bring charges against Jonathan Ross or ICE.
Immunity is not just what does or does not happen in courts. Immunity implies that the rights of US citizens are not protected by the federal government.
